Ghost Light: A Unique Supernatural Escape Room Experience in NYC
Ghost Light is a unique and beautiful game that fits well in the theatrically heavy city of New York. It is a unique game with an original theme that is sure to impress all of the inner theater people within us. The game has supernatural elements but at no point does it ever consider itself to be a horror game; instead, it seeks to tell a tale of mysticism and adventure through its puzzles and set design.

The Story of the Phantom Show
You and your group of friends are all the last ones to leave the theater at night. As per tradition in the live theater industry, one must always keep a “ghost light” on, a light that is left on, on stage, for superstitious reasons. As you head out for the evening, you forget to turn on the light and, thanks to a reminder from the ghost of Olive Thomas, you must turn it on before you leave. It is too late though, if her ghost is around then it is up to you to quiet the other spirits lingering in the theater by getting them ready for their phantom show in time. The show starts in an hour. Can you get everything in place for the curtain call in time?
Immersive Set Design
The set design immerses your group into the old 1920’s era of a back stage and theater. Starting in the girls dressing room, everything feels as if the human players performing tomorrow have all been set up and are ready to go until all the mysterious happenings of the spirits in the venue start to cause havoc. All of the locked objects are locked with era-appropriate latches and the game uses a great integration of technology to control items in the room that the spirits will manipulate.
Gameplay and Sensory Experience
Reveals in this room are ingenious and come from unexpected places. Getting to the stage involves fun puzzles that work thematically and build the actions in the story world. The puzzles flow into each other rather seamlessly, and it was clued very well going from room to room and puzzle to puzzle. Each piece inside "Ghost Light" provided an adventure that felt more like an interactive experience rather than an escape room at some points.
Furthermore, expect to use each and every sense in this room. Myss Tic did a wonderful job at incorporating each main sense in ways that one might not have seen before. Smell, sight, hearing, and touch are just some of the many feelings used in the room to truly immerse the group.
Location and Logistics
For those planning to visit, the venue is located in the basement, with both stairs and an elevator available. The facility includes a lobby with a waiting area. Regarding transportation and arrival:
- If you get lucky, you might find a parking spot on the street but make sure to read the signs as you are in NY and there are many signs.
- Free parking is available on Sundays.
