Make tasty and cute homemade hot chocolate ornaments. Hot cocoa ornaments are beautiful and a tasty treat too. This homemade hot chocolate ornament is the gift we will be giving to the boys’ teachers for Christmas. It doesn’t cost much to make and these ornaments are a super fun gift to give. Homemade Hot Chocolate Ornaments- These beautiful ornaments are really a cute decoration AND a tasty treat as well.

Easy and Affordable Holiday Crafting

I have made these DIY ornaments several times over the years. I also ran a large group womens craft even where we made these. Its easy to make just a few, or a hundred with just a few supplies. You can use hot cocoa you have, or make up a quick batch of my homemade version.

Ingredients and Supplies

To begin this project, I mixed up a big batch of homemade hot chocolate using simple ingredients. Here are the items you will need:

  • Plastic Fillable Ornaments
  • Christmas Ribbon
  • Hot Cocoa Mix
  • Dehydrated Marshmallows
  • Crushed Candy Canes

For the drink mixture itself, use the following portions:

  • Cocoa Powder: 2 TBS
  • White Sugar: 2 TBS
  • Powdered Milk: 1 TBS
  • Optional extras: mini marshmallows, crushed candy canes, or sprinkles

Assembly Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients together.
  2. The hardest part of this whole project was getting everything inside the ornament!
  3. I realized I don’t have a funnel, so I made a paper cone, it worked okay.
  4. Add any of the optional toppings for extra flavor and festive look.

When it is time to enjoy the treat, one TBS of mix with 1 cup of hot water will make hot cocoa.

Pro-Tips for Your DIY Ornaments

I love the look of the marshmallows in the ornaments, but learn from my mistakes and only use the dehydrated ones. Even the mini regular ones end up getting stuck in the ornament. You can get them in, but they are really hard to get out. Additionally, glass and food aren’t always the best mix and I started to think that maybe plastic would be better. So I made the latest set with plastic fillable ornaments.

Either as a gift or added to another item, your friends and family will love these tasty and adorable hot chocolate ornaments. This DIY cocoa ornaments are as fun to eat as they are to make.
