DSWD, OP, and City of Manila Distribute Food Assistance to Families and Typhoon Victims
Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) and the Office of the President’s Presidential Management Staff (PMS) distributed family food packs (FFPs) to Typhoon ‘Uwan’-stricken families and individuals in Barangays 177, 178, and 183 in Manila on Tuesday (November 11). Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez of the DSWD’s Operations Group, FO NCR Regional Director Michael Joseph Lorico, and PMS staff led the distribution of relief assistance.
Relief Operations in Metro Manila
The DSWD has dispatched nearly 10,000 FFPs to affected local government units (LGUs) in NCR. FO personnel handed over FFPs to affected families in Caloocan City, Paranaque City, and Quezon City a day earlier, on November 10. To support these efforts, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) thanked GCash for its logistical support for the agency’s continuous relief operations.
Manila City Government Christmas Initiatives
In a separate initiative, the city government of Manila will start distributing Christmas food packs to residents starting Dec. 1, its public information office (PIO) announced. Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo inspected the food boxes on Wednesday, which are intended for more than 695,000 families residing in the city. According to the Manila PIO, 160,000 food packs will be distributed to senior citizens.
