9/11 Day Meal Pack: September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance
9/11 Day is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created by 9/11 family members immediately following the September 11th tragedy. Our organization created and annually organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, the largest federally-recognized day of service in the country, in partnership with AmeriCorps and our hundreds of generous sponsors and partners across the nation. When we were founded as a grassroots organization, our name was My Good Deed and although we are officially 9/11 Day now, you may still see references to My Good Deed – that’s still us!
About the Meal Pack Program
September is Hunger Action Month across the country. When we decided to host large-scale volunteer projects, we wanted to complement the great efforts supporting hunger relief that are already underway by our nonprofit partners and thus decided to focus on meal packing events. 600+ companies annually pack millions of meals for 9/11 Day. We partner with the local Feeding America-affiliated food bank in each city where we host a meal pack, ensuring that all of the food stays local and, by working with the local hunger experts, we ensure that it reaches those most in-need of it.

Sponsorship and Team Registration
How is the sponsorship amount calculated? The sponsorship amount is based on the per-volunteer cost to purchase the food each volunteer packs – $225/volunteer. Your generous sponsorship primarily helps to cover the costs of the food and supplies that each volunteer packs along with associated event expenses. It is important to note that all sponsorship donations are 100% tax-deductible. Your sponsorship level is for the total number of spots you’d like to reserve – this can be spread across as many or as few cities as needed for your team.
Regarding recruitment and logistics, registration usually opens in June! We recommend using our Eventbrite platform to manage your team’s registration. We’ll make sure your team is grouped at the same tables (12–13 people per table) so they can share the experience and enjoy that team-building element together.
