Teens 5-Day Summer Series: Advanced Baking Cooking Class
Treat your budding foodie to five days full of hands-on cooking fun! In our all-new Summer Series designed for ages 12 and older, your teen will learn to become more creative and confident in the kitchen. Guided by a chef instructor, they’ll explore challenging recipes while learning advanced baking techniques, essential food prep skills and best practices for kitchen safety.
Weekly Curriculum
The following schedule details the advanced baking topics covered during this 5-day series:
- Day 1: French Pâtisserie – Pate a Choux • Pastry Cream • Chocolate Ganache • White Chocolate Ganache Drizzle
- Day 2: Bagel Shop – Cinnamon Swirl Bagels • Cheddar Chive Bagels • Stuffed Bagel Bites • Customized Shmears
- Day 3: Tart Trio – Hot Chocolate Tart with Whipped Cream Top • Cannoli Tart with Candied Orange and Piped Chocolate Decor • Fruit Custard Tart
- Day 4: Chocolate Celebration Cake Part I – Chocolate Celebration Cake • Vanilla Buttercream • Marbled Chocolate Covered Strawberries • Strawberry Macarons with White Chocolate Ganache
- Day 5: Chocolate Celebration Cake Part II – Chocolate Celebration Cake • Vanilla Buttercream • Marbled Chocolate Covered Strawberries • Strawberry Macarons with White Chocolate Ganache
What To Expect
Great cooking is about more than recipes—it's about techniques. In our classes you'll work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by our professional chef instructors. Regarding the class structure:
- Classes are 2 hours, unless otherwise noted above.
- You will work with other students in groups of 5.
- Hands-on classes are limited to 16-20 students, depending on location.
- You will be standing, cooking and working for most of the class.
At the end of the week, each student goes home with a printed menu, graduation certificate and skills to use for a lifetime. Additionally, students receive a coupon good for 10% off in-store purchases the day of class.
Preparation and Safety
Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back. Sur La Table recipes are developed using common cooking and baking ingredients that may or may not be specified in the menu titles, including various fruits and vegetables, nuts, meats, spices, wheat flours, etc. If you have a food allergy, please contact the class location.
Cancellation Policy
Thank you for registering to attend a Sur La Table Cooking Class. This policy describes what happens should you need to cancel. To receive a full refund, cancel up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time for cooking classes. Refunds will be processed using the original payment method. Should you prefer, you can choose to receive your refund in the form of a Sur La Table Gift Card.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds or in-store credit for cancellations made within 48 hours of your class start time. Cancellations or changes can be made in person at the class location or by calling toll-free Customer Service at 317-559-2041 during normal business hours. We cannot accept or honor cancellations made by email or left on voicemail. Please note that Sur La Table reserves the right to modify class menus at any time due to ingredient availability or seasonality.
