The Celebration of Whiskey Craftsmanship: Anniversary Releases and Special Collaborations
Please join us in celebrating our 10th anniversary with ORIGINS X. The X release is especially important and exciting; it represents 10 years of distilling, maturing, and continually improving. It’s also our oldest whiskey released to date featuring barrels from the earliest days of Laws Whiskey House. Most notably, ORIGINS X represents what can happen when a group of people come together around a vision and an obsession. As the saying goes, “it takes a Village” and for our village “there are no shortcuts.”
The Story of Laws Whiskey House Origins X
The ORIGINS series celebrates our roots and founding story. We began distilling in 2011 and each of the first 16 spirit runs were directed by Al Laws with advice from Bill Friel, Master Distiller Emeritus from Bardstown, Kentucky. In 2013, after two years of aging we selected 28 barrels that included at least one barrel from each of these first 16 spirit runs and married them in a stainless-steel tank. After this whiskey mingled and mellowed for a few days, it was reintroduced to the same 53-gallon #3 char barrels, renumbered, re-racked, and adorned with a single word, “ORIGINS.”
ORIGINS barrels were then sold to friends of the Village providing us with the funds that we used to design and manufacture our signature custom bottles and establish other brand pillars of Laws Whiskey House. As the company grew, we repurchased some of these barrels with the intent to create special releases and to showcase new heights of flavor and complexity. X is composed of the last of our 4 ORIGINS barrels, married together at roughly 107 proof.

Master of Whiskey Series: Blackened x Rabbit Hole
We’re digging into the Masters of Whiskey series from the heavy metal-inspired whiskey-makers at Blackened. For this, their third release, Blackened teamed up with relative newcomer Kaveh Zamanian and his Rabbit Hole Distillery. The base of this release is a blend of 13-year-old bourbon sourced from Tennessee and Rabbit Hole’s own Heigold, a high rye, double malt bourbon. All of that gets finished in Calvados apple brandy casks and sonically enhanced, presumably by some heavy, 90s era Metallica tunes.
The aroma is initially all dark spices, toffee, and honey roasted peanuts. The palate doesn’t lean very hard on the Calvados finishing either; big, round notes of butterscotch and peanut brittle evolve to pie spice and poached pear. A flourish of peppery rye spice late in the game erodes into a dry, warming finish of apple chips and smoked cinnamon. This third edition is solid stuff, bottled at 106.6 proof.
Distinctive Whiskey Expressions: Glenmorangie and James Eadie
The quirky distillery Glenmorangie releases with this X a single malt whisky that is specially made for mixing. The X is characterized by strong, sweet notes from the bourbon and new oak casks on which it matured. For in your cocktails, it is bottled at 40%. Additionally, the James Eadie Trademark X Blended Scotch Whisky offers a unique profile with an alcohol content of 45.6%.
